FAQ's
Q: Why do I need to protect my deck/structure if it's treated wood?
A: Treated wood does not offer protection from environmental factors, which utimately causes the wood to fail if it's not correctly protected.
Q: Can I use paint instead of stain?
A: At David's Decks, we never recommend applying paint and we ONLY guarantee the products we use. Paint does NOT create a protective barrier for the wood. Therefore, outside elements eventually compromise the longevity of your structure.
Q: Should I wait until the wood is gray to protect it?
A: Absolutely not. In fact, this can be problematic because in most cases, gray wood indicates dead wood fibers and requires replacement and/or rebuild.
Q: I've heard of sanding at some point in the process but when do I do it?
A: If necessary, we will take care of all of that for you! This is a case by case basis and involves careful evaluation of several factors such as previous products applied, condition of wood and so on.
Q: What if I don't know what is on my deck/structure?
A: That's ok! With our knowledge and experience, we can determine previous products and will offer a spectrum of colors for you to choose from.
Q: What if I want everything to look the same?
A: That isn't always possible. New and weathered wood absorbs stain differently due to the porosity. We will work together to find the best option!
